SMOOTH COLOUR CHANGE

This tutorial will show you how to make a smooth colour change in amigurumi.  A common problem in amigurumi and when working in a spiral, is the stepped seam that forms when making a colour change.  This colour change technique will give a neater, smoother edge to the colour change by eliminating the obvious step.

Step 1: The first step of the colour change takes place when making the final stitch of the round.

Step 2: Insert your hook through the final stitch of the round.

Step 3: Yarn over using your current colour. With two loops of the last stitch remaining on the hook, you are now ready to make your colour change.

Step 4: Yarn over with your new colour and pull through the remaining two loops.  You are now ready to make your first stitch in the new colour.

Step 5: Instead of a single crochet, make a slip stitch into your first stitch.  Place a stitch marker into this stitch, as this is the first stitch of the new round.

Step 6: Continue following the pattern with the new colour.  With the round complete, you can see that this technique results in a smooth colour transition with no step.

So there you have it, a very helpful technique when changing colours in amigurumi.

Thank you so much for stopping by and happy crocheting!
